Michelle DeLaRosa, LCPC

Psychotherapist

I strive to create an intentional space for you to have the courage to share your story and to find hope and healing.

Are you struggling with emotions, anxiety, or stress in your life? Are you having difficulty balancing work, relationships, and your purpose in life? Is your marriage under stress? Have you lost faith? If you answered yes to any of these questions, I would love to help!

I believe that nurturing both ourselves and our relationships is such an important, but often overlooked, part of our lives. One of my favorite sayings is “you can’t heal what you don’t reveal.”Counseling can help you take the first step to do just this and find healing.

Experience

I attended the University of Wisconsin Madison where I received my bachelor's degree in psychology and completed my master's degree in clinical psychology at Roosevelt University in Schaumburg. I have had the pleasure of working with adults, couples, teens, children, and families for almost thirty years in numerous settings including private practice, the local church, a residential treatment center, a crisis intervention agency, and several family agencies. I’m grateful to have walked alongside so many people on their journey toward growth and healing.

Specialty Areas

COUPLES COUNSELING: I have a passion for working with couples in every season of relationship.  My focus is on strengthening relationships. I strive for couples to be able to intentionally connect with and understand each other to uncover relational patterns, hurts, and unresolved family of origin issues so that your relationship can thrive. I utilize Gottman techniques and elements of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and other models. I will also provide faith-based interventions for couples who could benefit from and consent to this approach.

GRIEF, LOSS &| LIFE TRANSITIONS: I have a special interest in working with grief

and loss, and life transitions. Losing someone or a relationship can be hard. Life change can also be accompanied by difficult emotions as we move through seasons of transition in our families from becoming new parents to launching our kids into adulthood to struggling with our own health and the aging process.

FAITH BASED COUNSELING: As a Christian counselor, I offer faith based counseling for individuals or couples who are seeking to incorporate their faith and spirituality into their healing journey. I believe that when we view our challenges through a biblical lens and anchor ourselves in faith, we can find grace, peace, strength, courage, hope and, ultimately, healing.

FAMILIES, TEENS AND YOUNG ADULTS: In addition, I see teens and young adults in my practice. I offer individual and family therapy to help teens and young adults learn new ways of thinking and feeling and relating to others in their lives. I strive to make therapy a place where young adults and teens feel safe and able to talk through all the challenges they are facing today.

Counseling Approach

Whether you're new to therapy or have been struggling for years, my aim is to provide a welcoming space for you to talk through your emotions, challenges, and relationship struggles. Finding a counselor who is a good fit for you, your marriage, or your family is essential for successful change. Using a client-centered approach, I meet you where you are and work together to create solutions and healing. My therapy style is eclectic and tailored to your unique needs. I often incorporate:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help change unhelpful thoughts and reduce anxiety, depression, and negative emotions

  • Solution-focused techniques to set clear goals for the changes you want

  • Holistic methods addressing all areas of your life

  • Mindfulness exercises to calm your mind, reduce stress, and stay present

  • Faith and Spirituality, when requested, to support your healing

More About Me

In my free time, I love to be outdoors. I find being in nature or just simply pausing to take in the world around, brings me calm and centers me.  I also enjoy connecting with friends and traveling with my husband and adult children, especially to Door County, Wisconsin. You can also find me curled up with a good book in my free time with a cup of coffee or listening to my favorite music playlist or podcast. I firmly believe in seeking those things that bring you joy and contentment and slowing down to do so. I am a Christian and am deeply rooted in my faith. I am actively involved in my faith community at church where I am passionate about leading small

groups with adults.
