Master's Level Intern | Psychotherapist
Cary & Crystal Lake Office
I am passionate about listening to people’s stories with empathy and curiosity, seeking to understand the unique experiences that shape who they are and how they feel. I find deep fulfillment in walking alongside individuals as they grow, heal, and often surprise themselves along the way. My clinical interests include working with young adults, adults, couples, men’s issues, spiritual concerns, and Pastors. I’m often described as strong-willed and direct, yet also quick to listen and slow to speak. My aim in therapy is to hear the full story, ask the hard questions with compassion, and be a steady presence on the journey toward meaningful change.
Experience
I’ve had the privilege of working with a diverse range of individuals across various stages of life. My experience includes supporting children who have faced challenging environments involving emotional abuse, substance abuse, divorce, and foster care. I’ve also spent several years mentoring students and young men—encouraging emotional growth, integrity in leadership, honesty in relationships, and physical well-being. In addition, I have served as a senior caretaker, assisting older adults in their homes with compassion and respect. I currently serve as a Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Technician and Practice Manager at a local mental health clinic for patients who struggle with depression, anxiety, and OCD. Throughout my journey, I’ve connected with people from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds, enriching my understanding and deepening my commitment to empathetic care.
Counseling Approach
My counseling approach integrates principles from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Existential Therapy, and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). I work collaboratively with clients, engaging in thoughtful exploration and problem-solving while creating space for honest reflection and meaningful insight. I believe that truth has the power to bring freedom, and I strive to balance logic and emotional awareness to support personalized, practical growth. While growth can be challenging, I view these challenges as essential opportunities for holistic transformation. I like to incorporate curious humor into the therapeutic space to encourage resilience and joy in the growing pains. I also offer Christian and faith-based counseling for clients who wish to incorporate their faith, theology, and spirituality into the therapeutic process.
More About Me
I am a follower of Christ, a husband, and a first-generation Filipino American—in that order. I value family deeply and love to laugh with the people around me. I enjoy staying active, whether that’s spending time outdoors or lifting weights at the gym. I have a passion for cooking, especially when it comes to satisfying my big appetite for Asian cuisine. I am also a reflective thinker, often spending time exploring theology and considering how it can be taught and applied in practical, meaningful ways to everyday life.
