Domenica Doro, LCPC
Asst Clinical Director | Psychotherapist
Cary Office
I went on to receive my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. I am very compassionate, energetic, and empathetic, with a heart for children, especially those who are struggling. I enjoy working with teens and young adults and also individuals and parents through adulthood. My goal is to create a place where all of my clients feel connected, supported, and understood.
Experience
I have worked with young children, adolescents, adults, couples, families, and groups with a variety of mental health and behavioral struggles. While I am open to and enjoy working with people of all ages and backgrounds, my area of expertise includes therapy with children and adolescents. I have worked with many children and adolescents throughout my lifetime in various settings, including another private practice, a variety of schools, a residential school, a childcare center, several sports leagues and more. Despite my array of experience, I have always felt most drawn to the counseling setting. For the clients I serve, I enjoy incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered, Dialectical Behavior (DBT) and Solution-Focused Therapies.

Specialties
My clinical specialties include working with children, adolescents, parent-child relationships, parenting, anxiety, depression, ADHD, behavioral issues, anger management, self-esteem building, life-skills development, faith-based counseling and psychoeducation.

How I Help
I believe that the mental health of children is of utmost importance as the experiences children have at a young age shape who they become as teenagers and, ultimately, adults. While counseling can be a serious matter for children, I believe in the importance of providing relaxed and enjoyable child-focused sessions. The therapy I offer is centered around fun, and play-based activities that help foster an environment which feels safe, inviting, and engaging for children.

More About Me
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our rescue puppy, Rocky. I love music of all types and can play piano, guitar, mandolin, and flute. I am very adventurous and love spending time outdoors observing the beauty in nature. I love to learn and have at least three books in progress at any given time. As you get to know me, you will find that I am often smiling or laughing as I love to find fun and joy in the mundane moments of life.Â
