Ashley Tucker, LCPC

Psychotherapist

Cary & Crystal Lake Office

I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska Lincoln, and my master’s degree from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I am very energetic and bubbly. My approach with clients is warm and compassionate and I believe in meeting clients where they are to foster a collaborative alliance. I am passionate about working with children and listening to each child’s unique stories and experiences to build from their strengths and to help them identify effective coping strategies. I also enjoy working with adults and assisting them with everyday struggles. I commit to showing up for my clients with respect, empathy, and steadfast support throughout their journey.

Experience

I have experience working with a wide population from children to adults in a variety of clinical settings such as mental health clinics, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, and residential settings. I am open to working with clients of all ages and backgrounds; my expertise is concentrated in working children and families.

I believe that all children have the ability to thrive if they are given the tools to do so. I have extensive experience working with children who struggle with hyperactivity and impulsivity or ADHD, anxiety, and depression. I have also worked closely with children and teens who struggle in school. I am experienced in delivering therapy in an engaging, playful way that is approachable to children.

I have also worked with adults who have come to therapy for relational issues and navigating life stressors that impact their quality of life.

Specialties

I utilize a variety of counseling approaches that are the best fit for clients. Some of the approaches I utilize are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy, and Client Centered Therapy. I work with children who have complex behavioral issues, ADHD, depression, anxiety, and child-parent conflicts.

How I help

You can expect our sessions to be tailored to you or your child’s unique needs. I believe that parents are an integral part of treatment with children, and I work closely with parents for their child's wellbeing. I want to feel like a trusted friend to foster growth with my clients. I invite faith into the therapeutic process when requested by clients.

More about me

I am family orientated and enjoy spending time with my husband, kids and family. We love to spend our weekends with our friends trying out new places to eat and fun things to do. I enjoy traveling to the beach, Disney, or to a country I have never been before. I am a follower of Christ, and my faith has been a guiding light in my life and a source of comfort.
