Nicole Treadway, LCPC
Hi! My name is Nicole Treadway and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)
with over 15 years experience in the behavioral health field. My formal education includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Eastern Illinois University and a Master of Arts
degree in clinical psychology from Roosevelt University. I consider myself to be down-to-earth and compassionate, and I believe my authenticity helps to make my clients feel safe and comfortable to open up and share.
I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families with a range of mental health and behavioral concerns. I am trained in several evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT); additional training in Emotionally Focused Therapy methods as well as Gottman Techniques for use with couples, individuals and families. I have a passion for helping my clients make the connection between how their thoughts, feelings and behaviors influence one another, and I use a strengths-based, solution-focused approach to empower my clients to reach their goals and live more fulfilling lives.
Child and Adolescent Therapy
I have many years of experience working with children and adolescents suffering from a
range of difficulties, including childhood trauma, attachment-related disorders, behavioral disorders and mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression and self-esteem issues.
I have specific training in a therapeutic technique called Theraplay which is an experiential approach that emphasizes the importance of the attachment bonds between child and parent.
I also have specific training in Structured Psychotherapy for Adolescents Responding to Chronic Stress (SPARCS), a cognitive behavioral approach that teaches adolescents the skills they need to cope effectively with the unique stressors they experience.
Substance Abuse Treatment
A main focus of my clinical work has been in the treatment of substance use disorders. I have a particular interest in the neurobiology of addictions, how they develop and how they are sustained. I teach my clients the skills they need to become free of their addictions and lead healthy, productive lives.
I have a keen interest in working with couples to develop the skills they need to have the loving relationships they desire. I have been training in the use of Gottman techniques, the practices of Esther Perel and in the use of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to develop the skill set to work effectively with couples.
How I Help
I have a passion for helping people reach their goals and live their best lives! I empower my clients with the skills they need to make positive changes and get the results they are hoping for. My approach is strengths-based, meaning I concentrate on my client’s strengths and helping them learn how to use them to achieve their goals. I also use positive psychology and client centered techniques to help my client’s heal and grow in a safe and welcoming space.
More About Me
I am a mom to three amazing children! They keep me busy, but when I do have free time,
I like to spend it outdoors on nice days. I love hiking, running, bicycling, boating and camping. When I’m indoors, you’ll find me reading a good mystery novel or working on a jigsaw puzzle.
