Ashley Mika, LCPC, CGCS
Hi! My name is Ashley Mika and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and a Certified Grief and Loss Specialist (CGCS) with over 5 years of experience in the behavioral health field. My formal education includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Elmhurst College and a Master of Art degree in Clinical Professional Psychology from Roosevelt University. I love the field that I am in! Through encouragement, compassion, and understanding I create a safe place for folks to share their stories, empowering and educating clients on ways to improve their well-being as we navigate together life changes.
I have worked with young children, adolescents, adults, couples, families, and groups with a wide range of mental health/behavioral conditions. Among my area of expertise, I have worked with individuals who have had anxiety-related disorders, adjustment disorders, mood disorders, relational conflict, trauma, and grief and loss. My clinical focus is based in Cognitive-Behavioral, Solution-Focused, Motivational Interviewing, and Existential techniques.
GRIEF & LOSS
As a certified grief counselor, I am passionate about assisting others with navigating their journey and experiences when it comes to loss. Loss is unique to the person experiencing the loss; each client has a unique experience of intense feelings of grief and anguish, based on, in large part, the depth of attachment in that unique relationship. Loss comes in various forms whether it is life loss (loss of relationships) or permanent loss. My goal is to walk alongside you on your journey by giving you a safe space to process and navigate healing.
For individuals who are seeking faith-based counseling, I offer Christian/faith-based counseling. I enjoy incorporating Christian faith into counseling as I have personally and professionally seen the positive effects of how faith has helped in the management of symptoms and stressors.
TEENS & ADULTS
I work with both teenagers and adults. My expertise in assisting folks includes but not limited to the following: mood disorders, life changes, anxiety, stress management, relationship issues, and grief and loss.
How I Help
I am passionate about my work and helping others heal on their journey. I will guide and walk alongside you as you take the lead in navigating your journey. My aim is to help guide you to heal and improve functioning through creating a safe space, a trusting helping relationship, and use of Cognitive Behavioral, Solution Focused, Motivational Interviewing, and Existential approaches.
